EASY Instant Soups (Soup-to-Go)


Make your own Soup-to-Go, gluten-free and vegetarian.


Cup of Soup6BYesterday my friend Andrea reminded me of these instant soups that I make for quick lunches. It is so simple to create your own dried instant soup mix from dehydrated vegetable powders. Make your own Soup-to-Go with these recipes that are gluten-free and vegetarian. NOTE: some of the recipes contain meat bouillon variations as well.

We have included a chart with flavor variations and suggestions for you to try. Or create your own variations with your vegetable powders. We would love to hear what YOU come up with. Enjoy!

August 23, 2016 UPDATE: Because different brands of powdered milk create different outcomes for this recipe, the directions have changed, taking these challenges into consideration.

Method #1

Cup of Soup3BMakes 1 serving

Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable powder
1/4 cup powdered milk
1 cup lukewarm water
1/4 teaspoon seasonings or to taste (optional)
Potato flakes (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine vegetable powder with water and stir.
  2. Add seasonings of choice and allow to stand for a minute.
  3. Add milk and stir again.
  4. Thicken by adding potato flakes if desired.
  5. Microwave for 1 minute or heat in a pan on the stove top.

Method #2

Cup of Soup5BMakes one serving

Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable powder
1/3 cup SOS Mix*
1 cup lukewarm water
1/4 teaspoon seasonings or to taste (optional)

*Recipe for SOS Mix can be found here: Dry SOS (Soup or Sauce) Mix

Directions

  1. Combine vegetable powder with SOS Mix.
  2. Add water and stir.
  3. Add seasonings of choice.
  4. Microwave for 1 minute or heat in a pan on the stove top.

Soup-to-Go

JarsTo make your own Soup-to-Go, simply combine your flavor combinations of choice with SOS Mix into a container that will hold 4 ounces or more and you can take these anywhere with you to create wonderful soups reconstituted with just lukewarm water, then heated.

Or use your beet, cabbage, corn, cucumber, eggplant, roasted peppers, sweet potatoes, zucchini, or your own mixed green vegetable powders. Your repertoire of soups is only limited by your imagination and your taste buds!
